Actions Service

This service needs to be installed and configured in order to run Action Rules automatically. This is carried-out with the CMSi installer.

The installer creates two new files in your CMSi folder - ESDMWindowsService.exe and ESDMWindowsService.exe.config. The latter file will contain a connection string to your database. You can also configure here where any logging should go and it is very useful to have any logging going to a separate folder.

The installer also installs a Windows Service called 'CMSi Actions Service' and enables it. This now means that the service is running and it will check to see if any conditions are met on an Active Action Rule and if so, it will run the rule. An example of this would be if an agreement date has passed, the combination of the Actions Service and an Action Rule can be configured to close the agreement.

NOTE: If you are running the Actions Service and are doing a CMSi Upgrade, you may need to switch the service off while you do the upgrade. An administrator can do this using the windows tool MSConfig. But do switch the service back on after the upgrade!
